You will be asked to sign a release of liability statement when I receive your hard drive or data. You may also agree to this release of liability in an email with the statement "I agree to your limits of liability".
- You must not request recovery of "invaluable" data. You MAY request recovery of "irreplaceable" data. In other words: I frequently recover important documents, data, and photos, that are "irreplaceable". I can not accept liability for recovering "invaluable" data - that is, data you cannot live without. By asking for my recovery services, you agree that the data is not invaluable.
- There is a chance that my recovery attempt could damage the data further. This has not happened yet, but you must be aware of the possibility.
- You agree not to seek legal recourse against me under any circumstances. My goal is to serve you.
- I believe "if I broke it, i should fix it". If I damage your computer or your hard drive, I will pay for it out of pocket, NOT TO EXCEED the amount of your payment. In other words, my monetary liability is no greater than the payment for services. There is no conceivable event where I might damage your property to the extent that I am in debt to you.
- If I accidentally detect that you have committed a crime of exploitation or a felony that resulted in harm to another person, I will notify the appropriate authority. I have a conscience, and I draw the line at harming other people.
