How long will it take? PDF Print E-mail

It is difficult to give a quick answer to this question. Here are some guidelines:

  • If your data recovery is urgent, let me know - in fact, call me now at 931-320-9428 and I can make your data my top priority. I love a challenge! If I'm not able to put it on the fast-track, I'll let you know. Depending on the type of data recovery, I can have your data back to you anywhere from a few hours to a week. This is very dependent on the type of recovery that needs to be done.

  • Your data recovery will obviously depend on my current workload, and the "fun factor" (I do fun recoveries first).
  • The time for your recovery has a lot to do with the size of the data to be recovered. It can take 12 hours to move 750GB (750 gigabytes), or just a minute to copy a floppy drive.
  • Some data recoveries require a donor hard drive. These donor hard drives must be located and ordered. They may or may not be available when I look. This donor has to match your hard drive very closely, so it could take time to locate one-  if this occurs I will discuss it with you. If this is the case, it could take a week or longer to get a donor drive. In my experience, the recovered data is well worth the wait.
  • Please don't assume that a long wait means I have given up or forgotten about your data. My rule of thumb is to send an update every day while I am searching for a donor or working on your drive. If you don't hear from me, feel free to shoot me an email. Whatever you do, don't get paranoid - people always assume the worst while they're waiting. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait!
