A standard hard drive recovery is $199. Please see the cost page for further details.

Hard Drive Data Recovery is my specialty. Here are some examples of the symptoms for disk recoveries I work with:

  • Your hard drive clicks repeatedly - or your computer clicks and won't boot
  • Your computer won't boot all of a sudden, or you see a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) - one example is UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
  • I can recover data from Laptops, Desktops, and most netbooks
  • When you start your computer you receive a hard drive error
  • You see something called a S.M.A.R.T failure
  • Your computer turns on but the operating system doesn't load
  • A computer shop said your hard drive was garbage
  • You have RAID disks that failed
  • You have a file server that stopped working - also called a "data vault" or Network Attached Storage (NAS)
  • You have a RAID0, RAID1, or RAID5 failure - these are multiple drives controlled by a hardware controller, usually in an external hard drive or server.
  • You have accidentally formatted your hard drive with a Windows recovery tool and need your files back
  • Platter hard drives, Solid State Drives, Laptop drives, desktop drives, external drives and many many others

I may be able to recover your data if:

  • You hear a grinding sound coming from your computer and it won't boot
  • Your hard drive has been physically damaged
  • Your hard drive was involved in a fire

I cannot recover data from:

  • Some Solid State Drives (SSD) with a certain type of failure (a failed integrated controller).
  • Large driver (over 750 gb) with a failure known as a "head crash" - but please let me be sure that's the problem!
  • Some RAID setups, it depends on the configuration!  (RAID means you have more than 2 or more hard drives that work as 1 hard drive)

If your particular need isn't listed here just ask me. My policy is to be absolutely honest about what I can or can't do.
